Day Trip Idea: CoCo Key Water Resort, Waterbury, CT

Following our recent visit to the Connecticut Science Center, we headed about 30 minutes away and spent the rest of the weekend at the Holiday Inn in Waterbury, home of the CoCo Key Water Resort. My kids, the water bugs that they are, were very excited for this weekend, as we had visited a water park this last summer for the first time during our vacation on the Delaware shore. They were looking for a repeat performance, only indoors - they really couldn't even imagine what it would be … [Read more...]
Day Trip Idea: Connecticut Science Center

Earlier this year, we spent a day at the Connecticut Science Center. Located in Hartford, it took us approximately two hours to drive there – a great spot for a day trip for Long Islanders with kids of kindergarten age and older. Our visit was on a weekday while school was in session, and other than a few visiting classes, it was relatively empty, which translated to no wait time for anything. The museum is set up on multiple floors, each housing one or two exhibits with a ton of … [Read more...]

The average home today has three televisions, two DVD players, at least one digital camera, one desktop computer, and two cell phones. How does your home stack up? Bad news: if you don't … [Read more...]

5 Reasons To Have Family Game Night

As a kid, I remember watching shows on tv that depicted families relaxing and sitting around, playing games and just spending quality time together on a daily basis. In our real life, these moments come not so often and are usually sandwiched between running to a birthday party, sports game or other extra-curricular activity. When we were kids, there were fewer distractions than there are today - there were less channels on television, no computers, much fewer video game options. Family … [Read more...]
Making Life Easier – Verizon Fios (Part 2)

Technology never ceases to amaze me. I remember a number of years ago, I got a Motorola StarTAC cell phone (remember those?). Due to its small size, it was the most sought after cell phone on the market. I remember my husband (who was my boyfriend at the time), made a comment about how in the future, our iPods and cell phones and computers were going to be combined into one device. I thought he had absolutely lost his mind. Fast forward to current day and wow, what a surprise! Our iPhones and … [Read more...]
