It’s been a long week – do you feel the same way? Doesn’t matter, Friday’s here and we’re heading into the weekend. And what a weekend it will be! I just took a look at my calendar and realized we are doing a lot of new things this weekend and wanted to share.
Dinner Out With the Girls
I’ll be celebrating the “non-bachelorette party” of my future sister-in-law with dinner with her friends at Elaine’s Asian Bistro & Grill in Great Neck. I’ve heard a lot about this restaurant and love sushi dinners, so I’m pretty stoked to check it out. Should be a fun night out and next week she’ll be my real sister-in-law, so it’s definitely something I’m looking forward to.
Bouncing Off The Walls….Literally
My son is totally psyched to go to a birthday party at this brand new party place, Bounce! Trampoline Sports. The first review on their Yelp! page says “We were there three times opening week! My kids (and by kids, I mean husband too) had an absolute blast.” It’s a new sports place where the floors are trampolines. This is their second location opened, and their website description says:
contains multiple jumping courts of varying size and purpose, separate slam dunk basketball courts, adult and children’s foam pits, one of a kind giant inflatables, as well as the first-ever trampoline bungee jump! So come bounce off our floors and our walls – they’re trampolines too!
Doesn’t sound like a group of 10 year old boys will have any issues. I’m wondering if they’ll ever want to leave (and then how often we’ll need to go back….).
Smooth & Shiny Hair
I’ve heard about these great “blow out bars” all over NYC, but have never gone to one. Aire Blow Dry Bar just opened up right here in Woodbury, and I’m going to try it this weekend. Great part is that if you like Aire on Facebook and share their status, your first blowout will be complimentary – (hurry though because I think it expires next weekend).
Two New Sports in the Weekend Lineup
Because we don’t do enough running around on the weekends, my son has added two new sports teams to his repertoire – roller hockey and flag football. We’ve known kids who have played roller hockey for years, and although hockey is his first love, my son never knew how to skate. He finally learned last year before camp and has been dying to join the ranks of the 10 & under set at Skate Safe America. We’re all set for the first practice already.
And because Sundays in the fall are made for football, he’s also playing flag football in the Long Island Flag Football League, aka LIFFL. Last week was actually our first game, and it was really fun. These kids crack me up because they’re so serious while they play – but it’s amazing how they ALL know the game and the rules and they get out on that field and run and catch like they’re in the Superbowl. This weekend is our second game of the (very short) 6 week season.
Of course the weekend won’t be complete without upgrading my phone to the brand new iOS 7. Is it worth it? I’ve heard mixed reviews. I’m kinda worried it’s going to bomb my phone, but we’ll march forward anyway. My kids both upgraded their iPod/iPad/iWhatever and from what I’ve seen it looks pretty cool. I heard someone decribe it today as “blingy”, “shiny” and “sparkly” and that definitely describes it. We’ll see how it goes.
So that’s quite a lot of activity for one weekend over in our neck of the woods. What new things are you doing this weekend?
