Do you think that a 5 year old could be an entrepreneur? The Giving Goose is a company that produces a line of clothing and gifts featuring the drawings of children that was founded by a 5 year old! Kindergartener Bethany Sawyer of Massachusetts plays dress up and loves to draw like every other 5 year old girl. With her parents help, she created The Giving Goose where 10% of her proceeds are donated to benefit charities. Bethany has achieved her goal of sharing kids’ artwork and helping others!
The current line, introduced in Spring 2011, features six designs – four were designed by Bethany and two were designed by her friend Benjamin.
The Giving Goose is currently seeking young artists to submit their original artwork for consideration to be used on future company products. Those that are chosen will select their charity of choice to join the company’s group of benefiting non-profits.
Artwork submissions can be uploaded to the company’s website, www.thegivinggoose.com, or can be mailed to The Giving Goose, 6 Little Brook Road, West Wareham, MA, 02576. In order to be considered in the round of judging that will be held at the end of January 2012, all artwork must be submitted no later than December 31, 2011. Winners will be notified and clothing and other products incorporating the original artwork from selected entrants will be sold at a variety of outlets and will also be available online from the company’s website.
