Ask a new mom how she is feeling in the days and weeks after delivery and you might hear answers like, “overjoyed, exhausted, overwhelmed, exhilarated, and in love,” but you probably won’t hear, “I’m feeling beautiful and refreshed-looking!”
The hard work of labor and delivery coupled with sleepless nights can leave you looking a little haggard. I’ve put together some of my favorite products to help you look and feel better.

Tinted moisturizer evens out your skin while providing a boost of moisture. Use a little and you won’t look like you’re wearing makeup, you’ll just look better. In the summer you can use it alone, but in the winter put this over your regular moisturizer. Smashbox Sheer Focus has SPF 15 and is paraben-free.
Lip balm smooths out rough and dry lips without being shiny or sticky. I had a lot of trouble finding one that was petroleum-free and actually worked. Sugar Lip Treatment by Fresh is pricey at $22.50 but it lasts a long time and is worth the splurge. Try the Rose tinted stick for a natural looking hint of color.
Nothing brightens up your face faster than blush and my favorite is Benetint from Benefit. It’s a liquid cheek stain that you swipe on and rub in. I’ve been using it for ten years and although it is NOT all-natural, I’m so hooked that I just look the other way when it comes to the ingredients.

With a newborn around it’s amazing how often you wash your hands. All that soaping can leave your hands dry, cracked and prone to cuts and scrapes. Korres is a Greek company that makes wonderful, natural body products and their yogurt body butter is great on hands, knees, elbows and everywhere else you’re in need of some moisture.
Finally, let’s get a little personal. Earth Mama Angel Baby puts out Mama Bottom Balm and it is a soothing, cooling source of relief for everything below the waist. In the weeks after delivery it is a lifesaver. Get it, use it, and thank me later. Have a friend about to deliver? Forget the flowers, and give her this.
