To me, the phrase “school’s out for summer” is music to my ears! Those simple words strung together into that phenomenal phrase means so many things – warm weather, no schedules, long days, no homework – the list can go on and on. Whether your family spends the summer relaxing, takes a long vacation or sends the kids to camp, everyone just wants to have a good time.
Last year, I remember I read an article written by a mom who decided early on that instead of sending her kids to summer camp, she would save money by doing daily activities as a family. At the end of the summer, she tallied up all of the money she spent each day and was shocked to realize that she spent more on keeping busy than camp would have cost her! A fun family day out is pretty stressful to many parents because every where you turn, you are hearing the “cha-ching” of the cash register! Never fear – you can do plenty of things this summer FOR FREE!! Yes, we said it – FOR FREE!!
Kids Bowl Free is the best bowling deal for kids – each registered child received two free games of bowling each day of the summer! This is valued at over $500 per child. (Shoe rental is not included, but when the bowling is free, it’s okay!). Parents must fill out a simple online form to register and select a participating center (over 250 locations to choose from) and will receive free game coupons e-mailed every week starting May 14 through Labor Day.
For parents and kids ages 16 and older, AMF’s Summer Pass is an amazing deal – for a one-time payment of $29.95, you will get 2 free games each day of the summer for up to 4 people. Do the math – quick! That’s $7.50 per person to bowl all summer! (Again, shoe rental is not included). You’ll need to register and pay online, which again, is pretty simple.
Whether or not you plan on bowling, all kids should be signed up for Summer Unplugged – even if you go once over the summer, it’s FREE, so totally worth it! And, it’s a great activity for a rainy day!
What are your summer plans? Will you sign up for one or both of these programs?
