In honor of September as National Hunger Awareness Month, Panera Bread locations across Long Island are supporting our very own Island Harvest, Long Island’s largest hunger relief organization, by holding its third annual Take a Bite Out of Hunger food collection drive. For the next 5 days only, (Monday, September 17 through Friday, September 21), every person who drops off one or more can/box of non-perishable food to a Panera location before 11am will receive a free Grilled Breakfast Sandwich of their choice right there on the spot!
Last year, Panera Bread locations collected over 2200 pounds of food for Island Harvest and hopes to beat that this year.
This food drive is not a one-shot-deal – Panera Bread does not only donate during this food drive; they regularly support Island Harvest throughout the year by donating bread, bagels and pastries that remain on their shelves at the end of the day. During Take a Bite Out of Hunger, Panera invites their customers and all Long Islanders to join in and help over 285,000 men, women and children in our communities who need help.
Panera Bread locations on Long Island can be found in Bay Shore, Bohemia, Bridgehampton, Carle Place, East Meadow, East Northport, Farmingdale, Hauppauge, Hampton Bays, Hicksville, Huntington, Lake Grove, Lawrence, Massapequa, Mineola, New Hyde Park, North Babylon, Port Jefferson, Riverhead, Rockville Centre, Syosset (new) and West Babylon.
