Garden of Eve Farm invites you to enjoy the stinkiest weekend of the year with your entire family, complete with family fun at the 10th Annual Long Island Garlic Festival. This year’s festival will feature lots of garlic inspired foods, Long Island wine, local and organic agriculture, a craft marketplace, farm tours and family activities more. Of course there will be tons of garlic for you to buy for eating or planting.
Every year, Garden of Eve grows over a ton (literally!) of the best tasting and healthiest garlic on Long Island. This weekend, you’ll be able to stock up in the Marketplace – all garlic sold is freshly harvested and organic. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water! There will also be a variety of delicious hot and prepared food for sale and sample, including garlic bread, garlic French Fries and even garlic ice cream. (Note – I may pass on the garlic ice cream, but my kids would probably try it!).
There will be a Garlic Eating Contest to see who can peel and eat the most garlic cloves in just three minutes. For me, I think I’d rather watch than participate, but if you love garlic and want to be a contestant, there are entry forms on the Garden of Eve website.
Chefs from prominent local restaurants will compete side-by-side to make their ultimate garlic creation, with a panel of judges and audience applause deciding who the ultimate winner will be. Cheer on your favorite local cook in the Iron Chef Garlic Competition, and leave with their winning recipe!
Families can enjoy tours on the farm and get information about local organic farming and sustainable living. There will also be grow you own garlic workshops for would be farmers, information about Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), renewable energy, recycling and compoisting as well as many of Long Island’s environmental organizations. Take a hayride and visit the kids area with friendly farm animals to entertain them. Enjoy live music all day both days of the festival and the Garden of Eve Organic Farm & Market is open as well.
Admission to the festival is $3 per person and children under 6 are free.
