Each year, we get a ton of holiday cards from friends and family with pictures of their kids. I love receiving the cards and seeing how all of the kids (and families) grow from year to year. But every year, we are left with the same dilemma – what do we do with the holiday cards?
Sadly, I have to admit that most years, the cards sit in a stack on our kitchen counter. Every year, I think “next year will be different”.
And the following year, the cards sit in a stack on our kitchen counter. Again.
This year, it was different. Earlier this month, I was inspired by a post on a blog I love, Try It Mom. Kimberly described a super easy craft for displaying holiday cards – and it was so super easy that I knew that even I could do it.
So off we went to Michael’s craft store where we made it even easier!
We bought a wide ribbon and little different colored wooden clips (they look like these but were more holiday-ish colors). We hung the ribbon in the doorway to our den, and as we received cards, we clipped them along the ribbon. It looks great and everyone has commented on what a great and fun way it was to display our cards. My kids are so excited every day to see what cards have arrived in the mail that we could hang up.
This is what it looks like today, including an “up close” view-
