As more and more parents seek out healthier options in household products, they are faced with a new problem: price. Organic food is often more expensive and leaving chemicals out seems to boost prices up. There are, of course, exceptions to this rule and now that natural and eco-friendly is more in-demand, more options are becoming affordable. Live Clean Baby is a Canadian company that recently launched an eco-friendly baby care products line in the U.S. and they sent me a few items to try out.
From their website: Live Clean Baby is a unique collection of eco-friendly baby care products designed with your baby and the environment in mind. Live Clean Baby promises performance with natural, gentle ingredients – caring for baby’s delicate skin using plant based formulations enriched with certified organic botanicals that are safe for baby and safe for the earth.
My absolute favorite product from the line is the Non-Petroleum Jelly. As a former Vaseline addict, I have been desperately seeking an alternative once I started reading about the dangers of petroleum products. The Non-Petroleum Jelly has a very similar feel to petroleum jelly and works well as a barrier cream for baby. It also was lovely on my own dry elbows and feet! In addition to being paraben free, SLS free, and phthalate free, this product is also fragrance free, which is important to me in a baby product.
Some moms and dads who haven’t jumped on the body wash bandwagon and prefer keeping it old-school with a bar of soap will be happy to see that Live Clean Baby offers two varieties of bar soap as well.
The Live Clean Baby line also offers shampoo/body wash, baby bath, body cream, and diaper cream. I used some products on my son and some on myself and found that they all did a great job and are sold at a reasonable price ($7.99 at Walgreens). I am a stickler for fragrance-free when it comes to baby products so I hope to see Live Clean Baby expand their product line to include more options without added fragrance.
