Our family is a huge TV-watching family. Good, bad or ugly, each one of the four of us has our own favorite programs, even the kids. When our son was a baby, he was a huge fan of everything Sesame Street, our daughter loved Dora. Now at 8 and 5,their favorites include the same Disney shows that their friends are watching, like iCarly, Good Luck Charlie and Victorious.
A few years ago, when I was working at our local cable company, I received a major employee perk – free cable. When I left that job (and the free cable) behind, I think it took my husband about thirty seconds to call Verizon and have them come to install FiOS in our house. We’ve had no issues with it over the past few years and when I was asked to participate in this brand team campaign by Mom Central, I immediately started to put together a list (in my head) of reasons why we are so happy with Verizon FiOS. Without further delay, here are my top 5 – for your reading pleasure.
Flex View. Anywhere we go, we have access to over 2,500 titles on Flex View and we can watch them from anywhere with internet access, either on our laptop or smartphone. Whether it’s a movie we are buying or one we are renting, if it’s a Flex View movie, we can watch it anywhere and there’s no additional cost. This is fantastic for families that are always on the go (and comes in especially handy if we go away!).
Manage your DVR from your phone. This is, by far, my favorite feature – I can use my smartphone to control my DVR. Great example – we were on vacation in Florida and went to an NHL Game (Florida Panthers vs. New Jersey Devils). As we were all decked out in our Devils gear, right before the start of the game, we were asked by a cameraman to yell “Let’s Go Devils!” Turns out that the cameraman was from the MSG Network and we were going to be on tv in New York. In about 5 seconds flat, I was able to pull out my phone and set our DVR (at home) to tape the hockey game so we could watch it when we returned home. (We still have it on our DVR – my kids will never get tired of watching it).
No additional On Demand charges. It’s so simple – if you subscribe to a channel, you get the On Demand. No paying an extra $5/month. Your kids can watch all of the Nick Jr. that they want!
Call screening. We can screen our calls without even moving because the caller ID goes right to the television. Plus, the kids always know when Grandma is calling.
Less bills to lose. Verizon will bill you everything – cable, internet and phone – on one bill. Pay it and you’re done, plus you can choose automatic payment and then you don’t even have to do anything.
Please note that Verizon FiOS is only available in select parts of the country – click here to see if it’s available where you live.
