The Girl Scouts of Nassau County partnered with Island Harvest to help stop hunger on Long Island. Through their new program, “Operation: Stop Hunger on Long Island” community members were able to make $5.00 donations and in return the Girl Scouts of Nassau County sent nut, chocolate or candy items to Island Harvest. As a result of this program, the Girl Scouts of Nassau County sent 1,176 cans of nut and candy products to needy Long Islanders just in time for the holidays!
Throughout Long Island, you can find locations to donate food to Long Island’s hungry through Island Harvest. Chain locations such as Panera Bread, HSBC Bank, Citibank and McDonalds are just a few places where you can drop off food.
Remember that hunger on Long Island is not just something that happens during the holiday season. Island Harvest is the largest hunger relief organization here on Long Island and puts $.97 from every donated dollar towards assistance for the hungry.
