In case you have not yet read my LIParentSource.com Parent Panel bio, let me reintroduce myself – I’m Jeremy Rice.
My immediate family consists of my mother and sister, and I am a happily married husband to a beautiful wife, living with our twin 3-year old girls and 8-lb yorkiepoo, also female. I’m a pharmaceutical sales rep and share a sales territory with a woman, and we both report to our boss, who is female as well.
And now — the icing on the estrogen cake — I’m blogging as part of a Parent Panel that consists of 8 parents, 7 of them mothers, for a publication that is run by, well, if you’ve read previous blogs then you are already familiar with it’s founder, Amy Platt.
In my adolescent years, I asked God to surround me with women for the rest of my life, but I’m not exactly sure that this is what I meant.
All joking aside, I’m thankful for all the people who are a part of my life, especially my family. There is nothing more rewarding than taking them on our excursions, whether it be to the Long Island Aquarium, the simpler Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery and Aquarium or the wallet-friendly “aquatic exhibits” at your local Petco. If you are a parent, you live to see your children’s smiles and the wonder in their eyes.
My goal as part of the Parent Panel will be to provide reviews that help other parents find things to do to put smiles on their children’s faces, as well as their own.
I know there are a lot of moms who scour the internet to find family friendly things to do (sorry dads, but you know we’re lazier when it comes to this), but the talented members of the Parent Panel will be a relatable resource to complement the already successful LIParentSource.com website.
And what you’ll get from me, that you’ll have a hard time finding in other places, is a dad’s perspective of things to do — and not just any dad — but also one who is very much in touch with the needs and expectations of the other gender.
Jeremy Rice is the sole dad member in the sea of moms that make up the LIParentSource.com Parent Panel. All opinions expressed in this post are his own.
