It’s been awhile since we had a post like this. As we are in a time of year that often makes us take an extra look and be thankful for what we have, this year it is especially important. Going through Hurricane Sandy and then being both close and far to the awful tragedy in Newtown will make us all hug our kids a little bit tighter and be grateful. Spend this weekend with your loved ones and be happy.
If you haven’t made plans yet for this weekend, there are a lot of great fun (and many free) events going on around Long Island. Here are my top picks for the weekend (and of course, there are many more on the Long Island Event Calendar). Have a great weekend!
- What says the holiday season more than The Nutcracker? See the largest production of The Nutcracker on Long Island on Saturday at noon and 5pm at Hofstra University.
- Make a visit to Westbury House part of your holiday tradition and celebrate the holidays at Old Westbury Gardens. With decorated period rooms, Santa, cookies and cider, their holiday celebration is a must for the entire family.
- Kids driving you nuts already? The Cupcake Corner in Garden City invites you to bring your kids for a free craft every Saturday and Sunday any time between 12-4pm in their bakery/cafe. Reservations are not required and there’s a different craft each weekend.
- LICM is having great family programming, including the standard Messy Afternoons. Visit www.LICM.org for specific programming timing and other information.
